I’m delighted that you have arrived here. My heart-felt intention is that your visit to this website will lead to a beautiful and creative transformation in how you experience your life.
It’s really no secret that life is becoming ever-more complex and increasingly unmanageable for countless numbers of people. So many live in a constant state of anxiety, caused, as I have come to see, by a false belief about who we are and what’s true about our human existence.
From what I have come to see, all of the wide and varied forms of anxiety and unloving behaviour emanate from just one belief: the belief that the very strong sense of ‘self’ which appears to sit at the core of our being is who we are. For me there is nothing ‘wrong’ with the experience being a separate self. There is no need for this to go away. In fact I see that this very heightened sense of self can indeed facilitate an incredible intimacy, discreetness and variety through which a living body and mind can be experienced. However the problems arise when we are identified AS this seemingly real ‘thing’ we call self. When our minds are orbiting solely around this sense of being a separate self, the fact that what we’re perceiving reality through, is actually a contrived way of experiencing, is not seen. It is not seen that what we unquestionably take to be true is a re-presentation of reality. It is not seen that what we call ‘me’ is a constant stream of phenomena: a verb instead of a noun.
With our attention fixed only in the one viewpoint of ‘self’, and immersed in the stories it weaves, we never see how this re-presentation only ever offers a limited number of possibilities. We can never entertain being free of the unpleasant effects of so many of our thoughts, because the very thing we take to be who we are, is a thought. And no matter how much we may work on creating a better self through personal development, therapy or spiritual practices, we are always left with a limited viewpoint: this self can never transcend itself: a mental process cannot transcend a mental process (no matter how hard it may try).
When we have what may be described as an ‘awakening’ there is no ‘me’ to claim ownership of it. It could be said that ‘awakening’ is always present and it is constantly being shielded or distorted by a sense of everything pertaining to a constructed ‘me’. Sometimes a greater slice of reality slips between the cracks and we are gifted a glimpse of our true nature :)
However for the most part, the mind, unimaginably vast and mysterious, seldom entertains its own nature because it is always looking at reality through the lens of a separate ‘me’ travelling through time and space. From this perspective we can never truly entertain being free of this viewpoint because we are identified as it: it appears that if ‘it’ goes we go too.
And yet we instinctively know on a deep level that what we take to be real from the perspective of self is not real. We feel its ultimate unreliability as a system, and the more our attention and faith are placed in something unreliable, the greater our anxiety. Ultimately our lives are played out trying to stabilise something that by its very nature is unstable. Our lives tend to reflect what our attention and faith are placed in. We find ourselves afraid of life and afraid of death, afraid to live fully expressed, tolerating and managing life from the perspective that there is always something waiting to bring us crashing down.
The Guiding Principle is an ever-dynamic adventure in which you can directly explore the possibility of freeing your energy from that one contrived viewpoint. It is about the process of placing your faith in what is totally and unquestionably reliable, always and forever. And it is about living and exploring from a vaster spectrum of reality where you are brought face to face with the rich infusion of possibilities living in your direct experience of life.
This is my wish for you!
Are you ready to discover the one simple truth that reveals the miracle of your life?
